Sleep and Nervous System

October 2025

Below is the log of my experiences when I lack sleep. Sleep is important for mental health. I have read that one of the torture technique is not to let a person sleep.

So, some of the effects of lack of sleep (for me) are:

  • The whole day, I felt depressed, low of energy and feeling as if the world is about to collapse, that something is wrong … though I cannot pinpoint what is wrong.

  • The other symptom I have when lacking in sleep is getting angry easily. I feel fragile and vulnerable, as if I am about to break and only a slight nudge (a nudge that usually might just irritate me) is enough to make me want to ‘roar’.

  • I got a ‘hurt’/’acidic’ feeling on my xiphoid area (also known as bottom tip of the breastbone/tip of sternum)

This is a reminder for me how important sleep is. It might sound superflous. I know it, but once in a while, I forgot and let other distractions .. took over. This is a journal of my experiences, as a reminder.
